ACTIVITIES IN 2023
Picture
We bought 6 of these cages for our weeds recently (July 23) and now we have signs made to acknowledge the funds we received from Network Tasman Trust to buy them. They are made on site by the Compost Club which is very convenient. Thanks to Ben Bushell and his band of merry volunteers.
The sign reads: "Compost cages at the Waimarama Community Gardens generously funded by Network Tasman Trust  - Peter Malone Community Grant 2022. "

On Wed July 19th we had quite a few more volunteers than usual who came to give us a hand in the gardens. It was a beautiful day with clear blue sky so why not spend an hour or two in this lovely environment. Morning tea is around 11am and we're lucky to have a few very good bakers !

We now have a good system for dealing with our weeds thanks to Ami who is helping with that.
We have a place for noxious weeds like hemlock, kikuyu grass, and convulvulus. The other 2 bins are liquid nettles and seaweed which have been immersed in water for several months now. They make wonderful fertilisers for your plants. When we dig up the oxalis bulbs that are rampant in the gardens we put in a bucket and they get boiled up to kill them and stop them multiplying.
